Shepherd of My Life-John 10:11-18

Most of the times, when a herd of sheep are crossing a highway without a shepherd, you found out that, if not all definitely some will be knocked down by a vehicle, any time they attempt crossing the road, but when there is a presence of a good shepherd, the shepherd makes sure that all the herds of sheep crosses successfully without a single one loosing it life. The shepherd stops every moving vehicle that posses as a threat to the life of the sheep.
This is exactly, what the Shepherd of our life does for us.

There are three things about this text I want us to look at:
  1. The true Shepherd of our life is JESUS: When Jesus spoke of himself as the good shepherd over 2000years ago, not every body present at that time will be happy with this serious statement by our Lord Jesus Christ. Some of the thoughts that might be going through their minds by then will be like: Is this guy claiming to be better than our father Jacob who successfully looked at his father in-law Laban herds? Is this guy claiming to be more experience than Moses who also took care of his father in-law sheep for 40yrs? Is this chap claiming to be better than our father David who fought with lion to rescue his sheep from their mouth? Is this carpenter's son claiming, He is the one David spoke of  in Psalm 23:1 that "The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want"? Today, even after 2000years, people are still doubting the shepherding statements of this Jesus, but today if you will come to terms with this statement, see yourself as a vulnerable sheep and follow this good shepherd, He will guide you through all your danger zone and no uncertainty will over run you. What the people at that time did not know is that the very people (Jacob, Moses, and David) they were taking their inspirations from were all inspired by this same good Shepherd which is Jesus. Today, you might also be taking your inspiration from your fellow men who you call a mentor and be despising every word of Jesus but what you fail to know is that, is this same Jesus who has made your mentor who he/she is today. Why don't you go the source yourself? food for thought.
  2. The Shepherd Knows You: The shepherd Jesus is the one who knows both our physical and spiritual needs. He knows all your health needs, financial needs, marriage/marital needs ,job needs ,etc. Just follow the true shepherd through your frequent prayer to Him. The shepherd want us to always follow Him through our prayers, that is why,He told us to always pray to Him, without season.
  3. The shepherd Gave You and I An Assignment on This Planet Earth: Ezekiel 34, tells us the assignment, what will happen to those who do the assignment and those who fail to do the assignment. Please grab your bible now and let's reed together : Eze 34:1 ¶ And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,Eze 34:2 Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel, prophesy, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD unto the shepherds; Woe be to the shepherds of Israel that do feed themselves! should not the shepherds feed the flocks?Eze 34:3 "You eat the fat and clothe yourselves with the wool; you slaughter the fatlings, but you do not feed the flock.Eze 34:4 "The weak you have not strengthened, nor have you healed those who were sick, nor bound up the broken, nor brought back what was driven away, nor sought what was lost; but with force and cruelty you have ruled them.Eze 34:5 "So they were scattered because there was no shepherd; and they became food for all the beasts of the field when they were scattered.Eze 34:6 "My sheep wandered through all the mountains, and on every high hill; yes, My flock was scattered over the whole face of the earth, and no one was seeking or searching for them."...
Verse2, You and I have a very big responsibility of preaching the good news to our neighbors so that they will come in to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, when we do that we introduce them to the Holy Spirit, The Holy Spirit comes to stay in their hearts and their Soul and Spirit starts to feed on the Holy Spirit.

Conclusion
In conclusion, Jesus is the Shepherd and every being created in His image is the sheep. The Shepherd is able to:
  1. Lead the sheep to quiet waters to quench their thirst.
  2. Lead the sheep to green pastures to eat and be full.
  3. Binds their  wounds.
  4. Protect them from the enemy.
  5. Search for the lost ones as He is searching for you today.
  6. Untangle them from thorns and brambles.
  7. Pick them up when they fall.
  8. Pick them up when they get tired on the way.
  9. Is patient and wait till they all finish eating.
  10. Wait and bring all of them home safely.
All these and more the shepherd will do for you if you decide to give him full control over your life today. Amen and God richly bless you.
